Lumetrics®, Inc. Begins Shipments on New Wavefront Systems
Rochester, NY- Lumetrics®, Inc., a leading manufacturer of measurement technology began shipment of the first four of its CLAS wavefront aberrometer products. Lumetrics® acquired this patented technology from Abbott in June of 2012. These products formerly had been sold under the WaveFront Sciences name.
Lumetrics® has spent the past six months integrating the WaveFront products into their manufacturing system, ordering components, and developing technology to repeatably build and test systems. The first products released were the CLAS-XP wavefront sensors used to characterize optics and laser beams. The systems are intended to reduce inspection costs, improve yields, and satisfy stringent requirements for new and existing products. “We are extremely excited to be shipping our first wavefront products”, said President John Hart. ”The integration of the wavefront products into Lumetrics® has been extremely smooth. The Abbott team was extremely helpful in the transition.”
Lumetrics® has seen continuous growth in recent years especially in the medical and ophthalmics industry. The new wavefront products support those industries but also open a new scientific market for Lumetrics® products. The wavefront product suite ranges from the smallest micro-CLAS camera to the larger CLAS-640 IR, an infrared camera used at such places as MIT’s Lincoln Labs and the Lawrence Livermore Laboratories.Â
Lumetrics® will also be shipping out wavefront products for the ophthalmics industry this year. Lumetrics® has experienced a surge of orders this year, both from its traditional OptiGauge product suite and the new wavefront technology.
