Local Man Gets Wheelchair Accessible Van with Sweepstake Win from VMI

Peoria, Illinois (July 11, 2019)– Vantage Mobility International (VMI), a leading manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vehicles, in conjunction with Personal Mobility of Peoria, is pleased to announce the winner of the “Claim Your Space Sweepstake” is Jonathan Kaps of Peoria, Illinois. As the winner of this national sweepstake, Kaps will get $10,000 towards a VMI accessible van and a year’s worth of gas valued at $1,505.

The announcement comes at a perfect time, as Kaps has spent nearly a year researching options for an accessible vehicle that will fit his family’s needs. At the top of his list was the VMI Chrysler Pacifica Limited equipped with a Northstar® Power In-Floor Ramp and Access 360® interior space which will provide superior interior space for easier wheelchair maneuverability.

“I was ecstatic when I learned that I won VMI’s Claim Your Space Sweepstake!” said Jonathan Kaps. “This new van will give me and my family the freedom to go where we want and when we want without having to rely on others. We can now enjoy driving to family to events and festivals, as well as to doctor’s appointments with ease.”

Kaps is working with Personal Mobility of Peoria, his local authorized VMI mobility dealer, to use both the $10,000 prize and $1,505 in gas money toward the down payment for his vehicle purchase. Media are invited to a formal van delivery ceremony with Kaps and his family on Saturday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Personal Mobility of Peoria, located at 7611 N. Harker Drive in Peoria.

“Our daughter has had mobility challenges since she was 15 years old, so we know first-hand how difficult it can be to find the right vehicle that is customized for a family’s unique needs,” said Gerry Davis, owner and founder of Personal Mobility of Peoria. “We are so happy for Jonathan and proud to be a part of the VMI family that recognizes the need to empower people with disabilities and their caregivers.”

“Having a reliable vehicle that provides freedom of independence is important for any family and we are thrilled to help Jonathan achieve this goal,” said Charlie Treadwell, vice president of marketing at VMI. “This sweepstake creates an opportunity for families like the Kaps family to benefit from a mobility solution that’s safe, comfortable and provides the much needed accessibility that everyone should have to everyday living.”
