LMS Achieves Third Party Certification to the Responsible Care Management System®

ST. LOUIS - Logistics Management Solutions (LMS), a non-asset-based third party logistics provider, has achieved certification to the Responsible Care Management System® (RCMS) by an independent third party auditing firm. The Responsible Care Management System is the chemical industry's premier environmental, health, safety and security management system.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC)created the RCMS to help chemical companies, and their supply chain partners, drive results in key areas such as employee health and safety, security, emergency response, community awareness and pollution prevention. The system embraces a plan-do-check-act approach and is designed to take companies beyond their prior accomplishments and achieve a higher standard of performance. Continuous improvement is the key to the RCMS and companies are required to annually report their performance metrics to the ACC and renew their certification every three years.

BASF and Monsanto, long-time LMS clients and ACC members, sponsored LMS throughout the RCMS implementation process.

"LMS works with some of the world's largest chemical companies so we must continually build upon our operations to help realize the ACC's vision of no accidents, injuries or harm to the environment," said Dennis Schoemehl, president and CEO of LMS. "Although LMS is a non-asset-based provider, we play a vital role in helping to ensure chemicals are transported as safely as possible."

LMS has been measuring and reporting its environmental, health, safety and security performance metrics since becoming a Responsible Care® Partner in 2005. By implementing the RCMS according to ACC guidelines and timelines, LMS achieved RCMS certification.

About Responsible Care Partner Programs

Responsible Care Partners adhere to the same Responsible Care requirements as members of the ACC. This means that each partner company, no matter where it might operate within the chemical industry's supply chain, must apply the RCMS to relevant portions of their operations; obtain independent certification that the system has been fully implemented and functions according to professional standards; measure and publicly report performance; and implement the Responsible Care Security Code.
