Littelfuse Named a Finalist for 11th Annual Chicago Innovation Awards

CHICAGO -- Littelfuse, Inc., the global leader in circuit protection, announced today that it is a finalist for the prestigious 2012 Chicago Innovation Awards. The company was recognized for its new line of thermally-protected metal oxide varistors (TMOV®). Nearly 400 nominations were received from a cross-section of the business community in Chicago and the surrounding region.

"Our new TMOV25S/TMOV34S products with integrated thermal fuse technology are designed to meet customer needs for reduced cost and thermal sensing that is faster and more efficient. They also save space on printed circuit boards, which is critical for today's electronic product manufacturers. Littelfuse TMOV products are used to protect sensitive circuits in a variety of circuit protection applications including LED lighting and solar power," said Deepak Nayar, Vice President and General Manager of the Littelfuse Electronics Business Unit. "Littelfuse has a long history of innovation that dates back to 1927. This honor further enhances our reputation as the global leader in circuit protection."

The Chicago Innovation Awards, celebrating its 11th year, is the only organization in the country dedicated to honoring the most innovative new products or services brought to market or to public service from a specific region.

"The most important message of the Chicago Innovation Awards is one of confidence and courage," said Thomas D. Kuczmarski, who co-founded the awards with Chicago journalist Dan Miller. "The economy is challenging but each nominee believes the simple truth that a powerful new product or service will find a rewarding market and has the courage to pursue their vision."

Thirteen judges, representing a range of Chicago's business community, will be involved in selecting the final ten winners of the Chicago Innovation Awards, as well as ten "Up & Comer" award winners for smaller organizations still in the start-up phases of their innovations. In addition, each of the finalists, including Littelfuse, is automatically in the running for the annual "People's Choice Award," selected through online balloting at https://www.chicagoinnovationawards.com/finalist/littelfuse-inc/.

The final ten winners will be announced on Monday, October 22 and celebrated at an event with over 1,500 business and civic leaders at Chicago's Harris Theater.
