Linde Features Gases Technology and Specimen Cryopreservation Services at BIO Conference

Murray Hill and New Providence, New Jersey, U.S. - Pharmaceutical manufacturers and biotech companies attending this year's BIO International Convention are invited to visit Linde North America's booth, which will feature cryogenic gases technologies that help customers meet production and environmental requirements, and a new line of specimen cryopreservation services.

Linde experts will be available in booth #3942, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. from June 27-30 to discuss how these technical capabilities can improve the quality, productivity and cost-effectiveness of pharmaceutical, biotech and research and development operations.

Linde North America is a member of The Linde Group, a world-leading gases and engineering company. The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), founded in 1993, represents more than 1,200 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across the U. S. and in more than 30 other nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products.

Linde will feature its CUMULUS® fluid temperature control technology, which provides fast and accurate cooling, within +/- 1ºC, of heat transfer fluids through an indirect application of liquid nitrogen.

Leslie Waller, manager of the Linde/BIO partnership, said, "The Linde CUMULUS technology's precise, low-temperature control results in improved reaction selectivity, easy repeatability, higher quality and yield. The system's compact design footprint also allows easy retrofit installation and repositioning to other areas of the plant when the process changes."

For air treatment needs, the Linde CIRRUS® Vapor Emission Control system provides chemical and pharmaceutical customers with a flexible, compact and efficient option for reducing VOCs at reduced operating costs.

"Both the CUMULUS and CIRRUS technologies allow nitrogen gas effluent to be reused for purging or inerting throughout the plants," Waller said.

Organizations that need to cryogenically store irreplaceable specimens can turn to the Linde Gas Cryoservices(TM) program, designed to service all their needs - from specialized equipment to a complete line of cryopreservation services - virtually anywhere in the U.S.

Eric Weisholtz, head of Cryoservices in North America, said, "These scientific organizations are working with such items as cord blood, bone marrow, cell lines, blood and organs for transfusion and transplantation, and other biological materials, all of which require very special handling and preservation techniques. Linde's extensive nitrogen supply network, combined with our wealth of experience in the medical and pharmaceutical industries, provides customers with the product supply security they need and the services that will assure the safe, long-term preservation and distribution of these irreplaceable materials."

As a BIO Business Solutions Partner, Linde offers member companies special pricing and rebates on bulk gas products, bulk gas applications, packaged and specialty gases, mini-bulk and related equipment, products and services. The gases covered include cylinders for industrial and special gas requirements, on-site generators for nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen, and the supply of liquid argon, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and helium. With a coast-to-coast network of gases production facilities and more than 200 U.S. distributors, Linde offers exceptional service and cost-saving benefits to member companies.

The Linde Group is a world-leading gases and engineering company with around 48,700 employees working in more than 100 countries worldwide. In the 2010 financial year, it achieved sales of EUR 12.9 billion (USD 17.9 billion).
