Lincoln Electric Breaks Ground for Mentor Consumables Plant Expansion

Cleveland - Lincoln Electric recently held groundbreaking ceremonies for a 120,000 sq. ft. expansion of its Mentor, Ohio, consumables plant. Built in 1977, the plant is being expanded to handle increased wiredrawing capacity at Lincoln's consumables manufacturing operations. The project is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2008.

The Mentor plan is a cornerstone of Lincoln's North American consumables manufacturing and was a leader in the arc welding industry in being certified ISO 14001, which it earned in 2004.

The Mentor expansion is part of an unprecedented build out of the Company's manufacturing capabilities around the world. Lincoln has 10 plants planned, under construction, nearing completion or expansion in 8 countries, including a greenfield site in Chennai, India. The Company recently completed two new plant - gas apparatus production and flux cored wire manufacturing - in Poland. A flux cored wire plant in Shanghai is in the final stages of completion, and Lincoln is creating an automated welding center of excellence in a building it acquired next to its world headquarters and main manufacturing campus in Euclid, Ohio.
