Legrand/Pass & Seymour Director Recognized for Contribution to Electrical Manufacturing Industry

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has awarded Daniel Kissane, Director, Codes and Standards, Electrical Wiring Systems Division at Legrand, North America, with their Kite and Key Award.

Established in 1987, this prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the electrical industry by actively involving themselves in the affairs of NEMA.

At Legrand, Kissane's responsibilities focus on industry compliance and governance. He ensures that Pass & Seymour's strategy for all industry standards, technical regulatory activities, and conformity assessment issues is in-line with industry best practice. In addition, he has also been a trailblazer for the past 35 years by developing and then introducing the safety standard and code requirements for a variety of Legrand's innovative products and solutions.

"It gives us great pleasure to present the award to Dan," said Andrei Moldoveanu, Technical Director at NEMA. "He has a wealth of knowledge about all the relevant codes and standards for each of the various products he is working on. In addition, he understands his industry and consistently keeps up to date about all aspects of electrical compliance. He epitomizes what a team player is - always prepared and always willing to help and go the extra mile at all our meetings. His opinion is widely respected."

Kissane is an active member and chair of numerous NEMA product section committees and a member of the NEMA Standards and Conformity Assessment Policy Committee, the Codes and Standards Committee, and is the NEMA representative on National Electrical Code® Code Making Panel 2 and the NEC Correlating Committee. He is also active in a number of organizations responsible for the development of electrical codes and standards. These include Underwriters Laboratories and the Canadian Standards Association.

"I am honored to receive this award. I am grateful for all the opportunities that have been afforded to me so that I can make a contribution to an industry that is dynamic and built on product ingenuity and collaboration. Thanks to NEMA and all the members of the various committees that I have been part of," said Kissane.

Previously, Kissane served on the Section Affairs Committee and the International and Regional Standardization Committee. He was a member of the National Fire Protection Association committee on Manufactured Housing and also worked with the Fire Protection Research Foundation.
