Lattice Technology Hosts Fifth Successful XVL Solution World Event
XVL Format Provides The Basis to Global 3D Data Expansion by Manufacturers
San Francisco, CA, June 20 2006: Lattice Technology, developers of the ultra-compressed XVL 3D format and 3D Publishing applications, today announced the successful completion of its 2006 XVL Solutions World event, with 650 attendees from across the globe. XVL World received sponsorship and support from many companies, including: Nikkei Monozukuri, HP, CoCreate, Dassault Systemes, and others.
During the event, Lattice showcased the new XVL format, new XVL applications and upgrades. The event highlighted XVL's capability to handle very large-scale product assemblies, such as an entire vehicle, with high performance, small data size, high-speed data display and small memory consumption. In comparison to the previous version, the same ultra-compression of data is achieved with only a fraction of the memory. 3D digital data can now be viewed at twice the speed of the previous XVL version.
Hiroshi Toriya, CEO of Lattice Technology spoke on "The global trend in practical uses of 3D data and Lattice Technology's technical strategy" including announcing 3D PDF as a future XVL application output option, in addition to XVL, 3D XML and Microsoft Office formats.
Speaking on behalf of MAN Nutzfahzeuge AG, Project Leader, Dieter Ziethen, Information Technology CAE, presented "XVL as a Backbone of the Process Chain." Since January 2006, MAN Commercial Vehicles Group has automatically converted 3D design data to XVL and used it for the distribution of 3D design data in the process chain. Ziethen referred to XVL as a favorite technology and said that the 3D viewer, XVL Player is installed on nearly every PC. In addition the technical illustration departments are beginning to use XVL as a basic format to handle data with contractors and the technical sales department has requested to use XVL as the basic format to present MAN's technology to customers.
Other companies who presented their application of XVL included: Nextec Corporation, Nikon Corporation, Alpine Precision, Inc. and Yamagata Casio Co., Ltd.
