Latest Visual Effects for Thermoplastic Part Design Rev Up Bayer Materialscience's Extensive Fantasia® Color and Special Effect Technology Offerings

Hot New Shades Include Dragon, League, Turbo and Night Moves:

Pittsburgh, April 17, 2008 - An innovative color or special effect can turn an ordinary design into an extraordinary one. Designers know this, and so do the Fantasia® color and special effect technology experts at Bayer MaterialScience LLC (BMS). BMS is unveiling a stimulating new set of LEDA® compounded color technology visual effects that can help designers bring even the most imaginative product design into reality. LEDA effects are designed to complement BMS' Makrolon® polycarbonate resin.

Four LEDA compounded color technology effects families are introducing brand new colors and finishes that reflect the hottest color trends.

The latest in MIRAGE® color travel/pearlescent effects is:
o Dragon - This mysterious color-shifting, shimmering metallic hue morphs from coppery red to reptile green with gold flecks shimmering throughout. The effect creates a holographic-like green outline that transforms to a vibrant violet-blue when backlit. The multi-faceted Dragon flashes from a red-gold sunset to a translucent sea of blue and green as the eye moves around it: truly a chameleon effect.
New to the JUST COOL category is:
o League - A crisp, liquid blue with maximum gloss that gives a lacquered, almost mirrored appearance to the opaque finish. Designers going for that "wet paint" look will have fun with this modern melding of deep blue and violet.

MINA® metallic effects introduces:
o Turbo - Exuding a richness and sophistication beyond that of mundane metal finishes, Turbo provides the illusion of depth and tricks the eye into anticipating a certain feeling of temperature and weight.

An innovative addition to the LUNA(TM) glow-in-the-dark effects line is:
o Night Moves - Night Moves is a fresh, ice-like shade that packs a punch of pearlescent shimmer and shine. Brand new BMS technology gives Night Moves a dreamy blue-white glow-in-the-dark luminosity that stands out from the more typical green glow.

"Customers find inspiration in our edgy, innovative color and special effects offerings," said John Skabardonis, Fantasia Color Technologies Manager, BMS LLC. "Staying at the forefront of the latest in electronics, automotive and fashion design trends allows BMS to continually generate the freshest new LEDA molded-in color technology effects."

The four new LEDA effects were developed at the BMS Color Competence and Design Centers in Newark, Ohio, and Filago, Italy. Color experts at these facilities help customers visualize their unique color and can customize effects to suit each client's individual needs.
