Latest Charmilles Wire EDM Decreases Operating Costs and Increases Efficiency
Lincolnshire, Illinois, November 9, 2006 - Agie Charmilles Corp. has announced the release of the new Charmilles ROBOFIL 240SLP/440SLP wire EDM. In response to the rising costs of raw materials, this innovative machine has been designed to decrease wire consumption, reduce filtration costs and increase the life of wear parts.

To maximize machine performance, Agie Charmilles developed DCP (Direct Cut Performance) technology for the ROBOFIL 240SLP/440SLP. With DCP technology, a single cut produces better results than would be achieved with separate cuts for roughing and finishing. Combined with improved threading and rethreading functionalities and a new servo-control of the spark generator, DCP offers substantial increases to machining efficiency and productivity.
The new technology in the ROBOFIL 240SLP/440SLP reduces wire consumption by 66% and lowers filtration costs by 20%. Additionally, the consumption of wear parts related to wire feed has been decreased by 40% and cutting speed is increased by 15%.
Designed to excel in a wide variety of applications, the ROBOFIL 240SLP/440SLP achieves a surface finish of 2 µm. Geometric dispersion is held to less than 0.0003" for parts measuring 3.5" or less in height.
The ROBOFIL 240SLP/440SLP also boosts productivity through the ability to run unattended for longer periods of time. This results from the machine achieving much higher efficiency from the wire being used.
While both the ROBOFIL 240SLP and ROBOFIL 440SLP contain all the same technological improvements, the ROBOFIL 440SLP is designed to accommodate larger parts. The machine handles parts measuring up to 47.24 in. wide by 27.56 in. deep by 15.75 in. tall, with a maximum weight of 3,307 lbs.
