Large-Scale Deployment of M-Tech IDM Suite at Miami-Dade County Public Schools (Miami-Dade)
M-Tech's IDM Solutions Deployed to Support Over 770,000 Staff, Students and Parents in 340 Schools
Gartner Symposium ITxpo, Orlando, Florida - October 19, 2005 - M-Tech Information Technology, Inc., a leading provider of identity management (IDM) solutions, today announced a large-scale deployment of M-Tech's identity management solutions at Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Miami-Dade, one of the largest school districts in the United States, has been migrating from a mainframe-centric computing environment to a distributed network incorporating a significant Microsoft Windows based infrastructure. This migration affects the school district's entire user population.
The M-Tech IDM Suite® includes user provisioning, password management and access compliance tools. The suite also includes a number of automation utilities which facilitate rapid deployment of the technology into complex enterprise environments.
In the first phase of the project, the deployment of M-Tech's IDM solutions will significantly reduce help desk calls generated by the school district's users. Subsequent phases will allow both students and their parents, who have accounts on the school district systems, to monitor their children's academic progress.
Miami-Dade evaluated and tested M-Tech's IDM solutions in the Miami-Dade laboratory environment after conducting an extensive comparison of a number of competitive solutions. Key considerations included, among others, the requirement to customize mainframe functionality to address non-standard user ID naming conventions, and to manage multiple Windows domains supporting over 340 schools across a wide area network.
The entire project from commencement of evaluation to completion of the first phase of production deployment took less than four months. User adoption of the solution was critical to the success of the project. To ensure enrollment, an enforcement mechanism was integrated with M-Tech's IDM Suite whereby all unregistered users were automatically directed to the domain login for registration.
M-Tech's IDM Suite proved to be an optimal solution for Miami-Dade. Miami-Dade required a solution that deploys quickly with minimum service requirements. The rapid deployment of the M-Tech IDM Suite allowed Miami-Dade to make the system available in time for the new school year. In addition, the flexibility of the M-Tech IDM Suite allowed Miami-Dade to quickly add key target systems and identify which user groups would benefit from automatic registration. These benefits allowed Miami-Dade County to reach a quick ROI on their investment in the M-Tech IDM Suite.
