Laird Technologies Completes Delaware Water Gap Levy Reconstruction Project
EMI Manufacturing Site Takes Measures to Protect Plant From Future Floods
ST. LOUIS - (May 30, 2006) - Laird Technologies, a leading designer and manufacturer of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, thermal management, telematics and wireless antenna solutions, announced today that it has completed its levy reconstruction project at the company's Delaware Water Gap, Pa. EMI design and manufacturing site.
Laird Technologies moved quickly to protect its plant, which sits along a tributary of the Delaware River, by replacing a portion of the dike system following a major flood resulting from a barrier wall failure in the previously existing levy.
"Laird Technologies designed, engineered and constructed the existing levy walls so we can safeguard our customers' orders from possible future flooding. We also are implementing a strict preventative maintenance program that includes frequent inspections and testing to ensure levy reliability," said Sean Harrigan, vice president, general manager, EMI Division.
The new dike wall, totally funded by Laird Technologies at a cost of more than $1 million, protects the facility from rising river levels and meets flood protection specifications.
Laird Technologies' Delaware Water Gap facility manufactures EMI shielding products and various metal stampings used in the telecommunications, data-communications, computer, general electronics, network equipment, aerospace, defense, automotive and medical equipment industries.
