L-com Offers Alpha Micro Netport RS232 to Ethernet Cable Adapter to Bridge Serial and IP Networks

North Andover, MA - May 11, 2009 - L-com, a global leader in the manufacture of wired and wireless connectivity products announced today that it will now offer the Netport RS232 to Ethernet plug and play cable adapter from Alpha Micro Components. The Netport enables any device or machine with a serial port, to become network and Internet-enabled in an instant. The external NetPort adaptor features an integrated web server, allowing any device to which it is attached to be 'contacted' and monitored via a standard Internet browser.

"The Netport RS232 to Ethernet cable adapter is a perfect alternative to standard device servers which can be bulky, typically take up a lot of space and are not as streamlined as the Netport," said Greg Pepin, L-com's networking Product Manager

In addition to the basic Netport cable adapter, a Netport developer's kit is available which provides the software utilities necessary to integrate NetPort into any application in a matter of hours. The developers kit includes an external 9V DC power supply, software and user manual CD, and an 8.5" RJ45 to DB9 male cable.
