Kodak Leads Document Imaging Innovation with "Scanner Line of the Year" and 2012 Winter "Pick" Awards from Buyers Laboratory LLC
ROCHESTER, NY - Kodak received top recognition from Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI) for solutions that enable businesses and enterprise organizations to transition from manual paper-based tasks to automated, digital processes. BLI, an independent tester of document imaging products, named Kodak's capture portfolio the 2012 "Scanner Line of the Year" and honored both the KODAK i5800 Scanner and KODAK Capture Pro Software v3.1 with BLI Winter 2012 ‟Pick" awards.
"When looking at the product line, it's easy to see that Kodak knows its customer base," said Lisa Reider, Senior Product Editor for Scanners, BLI. Sure, speeds and feeds can be important, but they're all for naught without the usability factor."
In 2011, BLI conducted extensive tests and evaluations of Kodak's scanner portfolio including the KODAK i2400 Scanner, KODAK i2800 Scanner, KODAK i5600 Scanner and KODAK i5800 Scanner. Each scanner's performance earned "Picks" and BLI's "Highly Recommended" ratings for robust reliability, extensive media handling and integrated workflow automation.

KODAK Capture Pro Software v3.1 named "Outstanding Production Scan Solution"
KODAK Capture Pro Software v3.1 received a BLI Winter 2012 "Pick" Award as an "Outstanding Production Scan Solution." Editors' reviews noted the software solution's rich integration capabilities for Microsoft SharePoint, such as the ability to import existing settings and definitions directly into Capture Pro Software.
"Documents and the data they contain are the lifeblood of any organization," said Reider. "But paper documents such as forms and invoices can be a roadblock to efficient information flow. Capture Pro allows users to transform paper documents into electronic information for easy management, storage and retrieval."
Capture Pro's advanced capabilities are enabled by a wide range of features including indexing, zonal optical character recognition (OCR), batch processing and saved configurations for frequently used job settings. Kodak's software offering also features Kodak's Intelligent Quality Control capability, which automatically identifies challenging scans and allows the user to reprocess the image, even if the hard copy is not available.

The KODAK i5800 Scanner, also a BLI Winter 2012 "Pick," achieved high marks for product design and functionality that focus on customizable user settings and ergonomics. BLI's review highlights Kodak's ability to meet the specific needs of a high-volume, production scanning operator. User-oriented features include a height-adjustable platform, tiltable control panel, custom sound alerts for error conditions, a misfeed release button and customizable scan profiles for frequently used operations. The i5800 also includes advanced media handling capabilities from its automatic document feeder (ADF).
"The KODAK i5800 is designed with the user in mind," said Reider. "Too short to reach the ADF? Lower the scanner height and tilt the control panel. Sick of rummaging through the scanner's insides to remove jams? Press a button to release them. Want to finely tune the image enhancements as a part of a preconfigured workflow?
