Kellenberger Grinder with New GRINDplusIT Control to Be on Display at IMTS '06

ELMIRA, NEW YORK: Kellenberger, a Hardinge company, now offers on their Kel-Varia cylindrical grinding machine the all-new and highly-advanced Heidenhain GRINDplusIT control and a central chiller system for the hydrostatics, electrical cabinet, spindle and motors to ensure unprecedented thermal stability. This new addition to Kellenberger's expanding line of high precision grinding machines will be demonstrated in the Hardinge booth number A-8032 at the 2006 International Manufacturing Technology Show (Sept. 6-13, 2006).

The Kel-Varia, which features hydrostatic slides, offers the highest level of precision, accuracy and versatility. The UR and URS models feature a unique swiveling wheelhead with two external (and one internal) grinding wheels. It's capable of performing multiple-series operations, including diameters, opposed faces, bores, tapers, polygons, tapered non-rounds and thread grinding-all in a single chucking. The "no-lift" indexing B-axis (0.000030° resolution) allows any angle to be ground. 28 Wheelhead configurations are offered, including OD only®, OD and face (RS), and "C-Axis" for "non-round" part geometries and thread grinding.

The GRINDplusIT control is also offered on Kellenberger's Kel-Viva cylindrical grinding machine.
