Kaivac Supports Project WeHOPE

Urges Industry To Support This Program

Hamilton, OH - Kaivac, developer of the No-Touch Cleaning® and OmniFlex™ cleaning systems, is encouraging jansan manufacturers and others in the industry to get behind and support Project WeHOPE.

Project WeHOPE is a tax-deducible, 501c3 nonprofit organization that works with people in an East Palo Alto, CA, homeless shelter, teaching custodial skills courtesy of Cleaning Management Institute (CMI).

Following the CMI Basic Custodial Training manual, some of the subjects taught to the homeless workers include: the Chemistry of Cleaning; Cleaning of Above-Floor Surfaces; Cleaning of Hard Floor Surfaces; Cleaning of Carpeted Floor Surfaces; and Basic Cleaning of Restrooms.

The goal of the program is to eventually provide the skills necessary for these people to become self-reliant, according to Pastor Paul Bains, founder and president of Project WeHOPE.

Bains adds, "Project WeHOPE opened its doors in the winter of 2009 and has served hundreds [of homeless [people ever since" on a year-round basis.

"To assist the organization in its work, they ask for donations of cleaning tools and equipment of all kinds," says Tom Morrison, vice president of marketing for Kaivac. "Kaivac donated one of our new battery-powered AutoVac systems along with a wand and hose kit. These can be used for cleaning hallways, gym locker rooms, restrooms, and kitchens."

As welcome as this machine is, Morrison says Project WeHOPE is in need of a number of things including the following:

  • Cleaning carts

  • Wet floor signs

  • Safety goggles and nylon gloves

  • Brooms, dustpans, and counter brushes

  • Buckets/wringers along with mops

  • Microfiber towels and microfiber mops

  • Dilution dispensing systems

  • A wide range of cleaning chemicals and solutions

  • Backpack vacuum cleaners

  • A carpet extractor

"This is an organization that helps people get back on their feet and lead productive lives," adds Morrison. "That's the kind of program Kaivac has traditionally supported, and we urge others in the industry to get involved with Project WeHOPE as well."
