Johnson Controls Case Study Highlights School Safety and Efficiency at Buffalo Public Schools


Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), the global leader in delivering products, services and solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings, has released a new case about the highly regarded Buffalo Public School District in Buffalo, NY.

Faced with aging facilities and the need for enhanced security, the district embarked on a $1.4 billion project to modernize buildings and equipment throughout the district's 65 facilities.

The multi-phase performance contract guarantees $20 million for the district over the next 20 years. Project highlights include:

Instructional and Operational Needs:

o Lighting retrofits, HVAC equipment and controls upgrades.

o Installation of Johnson Controls Metasys® building management system.

Enhanced Security and Fire Safety:

o Installation and integration of nearly 4,000 video cameras throughout the district.

o Plasma monitors at all main offices, to be used for visual identification of visitors.

o A district-wide burglar alarm system.

Meeting Needs Beyond Equipment:

o Johnson Controls Innovation Services, facilitated workshops with teachers, staff and community members to identify and prioritize desired upgrades.

o Onsite building environment specialist to provide comprehensive training for staff regarding new equipment and technologies.
