John P. Leedy to Lead Training on NFPA 70E 2012 Lakeland, FL

John P. Leedy PE, of Leedy Electric East, will be conducting a seminar titled “Introduction to NFPA 70E 2012, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace”, on August 13, 2013.

NFPA 70E is the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, as established by the National Fire Protection Association.  While the NFPA 70E is not law, it is referenced in OSHA’s general industry electrical installation standards found in Subpart S of 29 CFR Part 1910. Specifically, OSHA requires that employers assess the workplace to determine if there are hazards present that require personal protective equipment, select the correct equipment, and ensure that employees use that equipment.  OSHA also requires that the employer verify the hazard assessment has taken place with a written certification. The NFPA 70E provides the guidelines for complying with these OSHA requirements.

The seminar will cover topics including, ”How does this code apply to you and your workplace?” and “What do you need to know to become compliant?”

Safety Solutions, a distributor of a wide range of protective clothing and gear, will be on site to demonstrate a complete line of Arc Flash Protection Clothing for hazards HRC 1-4.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, August 13, from 8:00AM – 4:00PM, at the Ramada Inn
3620 US Hwy 98 N, Lakeland. Lunch will be provided.

Registration for the seminar will be accepted through August 2 and will cost $300. Registration includes the NFPA 70E 2012 book.

This class is intended for any employee that works on energized electrical equipment with 50 volts or more, managers directing the aforementioned employees, safety professionals and Owners/Managers of facilities.
