It's Safe to Say Quaker Chemical Is a Committed Partner

Nucor Steel recognizes Quaker for excellence in safety

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., April 27, 2010 --Quaker Chemical (NYSE: KWR) was recently recognized by Nucor Steel, the largest producer of steel in the United States and the world's foremost steel recycler, for its ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of employees -- both their own as well as those of their customers. A Safety Excellence Award was presented to Quaker Chemical during the Nucor Safety Summit.

Quaker Chemical has long been recognized for technical expertise, high quality products, and outstanding service which results in reduced costs and improved performance for their customers. Now this global leader in process chemicals is being recognized for its focus on safety as well.

Nucor Berkeley (South Carolina) has partnered with Quaker Chemical since production began in 1996. Quaker provides a variety of products to this mill including rolling oils, wet tempering fluids, cleaners and rust preventives -- including the well-known brands QUAKEROL® and FERROCOTE®. The company also provides Steel Services Management, meaning that Quaker's on-site technician oversees all of the chemicals used in the mill. In fact, the technician plays an integral role in mill operations, including attending daily production meetings where safety is always a key topic.

Brian Kellogg, Quaker Chemical EHS Manager, commented on the award. "This recognition is a clear demonstration of Quaker's commitment to providing a safe working environment and to partnering with our customers in safety excellence."
