IP Unity Glenayre Taps Oscar Rodriguez as CEO to Lead Company's Growth in the Evolving Enhanced Services Market

Dr. Arun Sobti Remains as Chairman, Extending Strategic Vision

DULUTH, Georgia. April 24, 2007 - IP Unity Glenayre, a leader in delivering carrier-grade messaging and multimedia solutions over IP and TDM networks for carrier and enterprise customers, has announced the appointment of veteran communications executive Oscar Rodriguez as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Rodriguez was recruited by IP Unity Glenayre to help power the company's next wave of growth in the dynamic market of enhanced services applications. Dr. Arun Sobti, who has served as Chairman and CEO at IP Unity Glenayre since 2000, will remain as Chairman of the Board and shift his focus to strengthening and extending the company's strategic vision and strategic relations.

Prior to his new role, Oscar Rodriguez was Chief Marketing Officer for Alcatel-Lucent's Enterprise Business Group. Oscar was also CEO and President of Riverstone Networks, a public communications company delivering carrier MPLS/VPLS/Ethernet Solutions, before its successful sale to Lucent Technologies. He served as Nortel Networks' President of both the Enterprise Solutions division and the Intelligent Internet division, delivering profitable high performance IP-based products to both carrier and enterprise customers.

"Oscar brings enormous leadership talent to IP Unity Glenayre," stated company Chairman Sobti. "He understands the quantum leap in scale and strategic value a market leader needs to produce. He has delivered aggressive growth and operational excellence in his past roles, and we believe his entrepreneurial drive, understanding of service-enabling solutions, relationships with the full range of service providers, and disciplined management of business fundamentals will make invaluable impacts on our success worldwide."

"This is a time of incredible change in the telecommunications industry," added Oscar Rodriguez. "Traditional carrier network technologies are being supplanted by IP-based systems, from infrastructure to voice to call control. The ways carriers and enterprises do business are changing. The new world of IP-based technologies is opening the way for new applications and services to be deployed in a faster and more flexible manner. It's all about enabling services, supporting new business models and new revenue capture for carriers, in a rapid, nimble and highly-reliable manner."

"Oscar Rodriguez is an ideal strategic fit for IP Unity Glenayre's coming growth phase," added Dick Kramlich, Founder and General Partner, NEA and IP Unity board member. "Oscar's track record as President and Chief Operating Officer of Arris Interactive gives him an excellent grounding and relationships in the cable sector; he supported the core network and business model changeover at the world's largest IPTV carriers, and helped to reconfigure Wall Street networks to be fail-safe and secure after 911. He inherently grasps and can deliver carrier-class caliber and innovative, converged and integrated value-added services.

He is remarkably well-equipped and talented for this position." "I look forward to working with the 300 plus service providers IP Unity Glenayre currently serves, as well as our talented staff and partners, to bring even greater value to the market through our leading messaging, media and mobility solutions," concluded Mr. Rodriguez.
