Sant'Antonino/Switzerland, 5th February, 2007. The Interroll Group, global leader in conveyor components and subsystems for unit load handling, has acquired Werner Motor Company Ltd., Canada, effective from 5th February 2007. The latest strategic move by Interroll will allow the company to accelerate its business activities within the field of state-of-the-art belt conveyor drives used in checkout systems.

Having acquired drum motor supplier BDL in March 2006, thus gaining pole position in the market for high-quality drive components deployed in the food and manufacturing industries, the Swiss-based group is now looking to further enhance its market position within the field of checkout counters.

In acquiring Canadian-based Werner Motor Company Ltd., Concord, Ontario, effective from 5th February 2007, Interroll will further extend its lead as a supplier of compact drum motors for checkout conveyor systems, thereby gaining a premier position in the North American market. The Werner enterprise in Canada was established in 1983.

In addition to taking on the staff of Werner Motor Company Ltd, Interroll will acquire all assets in the entity, which generates annual revenue of approx. five million Swiss francs. Beyond the benefits outlined above, the acquisition will also allow Interroll to leverage economies of scale relating to the production of drum motors for checkout applications.
