Ebnat-Kappel – The Swiss sensor manufacturer, Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG, acquires Freiburg im Breisgau based Jobst Technologies GmbH and strengthens its position in the market for bio and chemical sensors. Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG located in Ebnat-Kappel in Switzerland, acquires Jobst Technologies GmbH. Jobst Technologies was founded in 2002 by Gerhard Jobst, Isabella Moser and Prof. Gerald Urban, from the chair of sensors at Freiburg's University Department of Microsystems Engineering.
Jobst Technologies holds a long history of landmark developments in the field of bio analytical microsystems such as biosensor arrays for medical applications and biotechnology. “We have been working with IST AG for many years already and know the company well. We are convinced that the acquisition will be beneficial for both parties and that the development of further reliable and innovative sensors will benefit the customers and strengthen both companies in the future. Jobst Technologies will remain in Freiburg and the joint efforts and business opportunities will give Jobst Technologies great possibilities to grow,” says Gerhard Jobst, CEO and founder of Jobst Technologies.
The acquisition of Jobst Technologies has been an important step for IST AG in the further development of bio and chemical sensors. “We have successfully been working on expanding our own portfolio for the biotechnical, industrial, pharmaceutical and medical industry and now find that the timing is right for a further expansion of our product portfolio,” says IST AG CEO Dr. Mirko Lehmann, “With the acquisition, we hope to strengthen our position in the market of physical, chemical and biological sensors.” He finishes.
Jobst Technologies GmbH
Jobst Technologies is a technology orientated enterprise offering its core competencies in the overlap between micro systems technology, (bio-) electrochemical analytics, and microfluidics both as service and products to its customers.
Jobst Technologies is a competence leader in bio analytical monitoring applications, with OEM products in clinical routine and biotechnology as well as with its own products for R&D applications. B2B contract development together with participation in international research projects provides permanent extension of the company’s technology and product portfolio. Low flow rate multi-parameter monitoring in nanoliter volumes is one outstanding specialty the company offers. Microsystem based complete monitoring solutions comprise of biosensor arrays, microfluidics, electronics, and software.
Fields of application are metabolic monitoring in clinical settings, metabolic research both in vivo and in vitro, bioprocess development and fermentation control. In short, all the applications, which benefit from a timely knowledge of metabolic parameters, e.g. glucose, lactate, glutamine, and glutamate.
Amongst the use in clinical and biotech analyzers, the recent application highlight of Jobst Technologies biosensors is found in the world's first blood glucose/ lactate monitor used for critically ill patients – marketed by one of the major European med-tech companies.
