Infiana Expands North American Production Capacity

Infiana is on the move: with the commercial start-up of a new blown film extruder, the engineered films specialist has made another important step in implementing its global growth strategy. The new equipment, installed at Infiana’s North American production site in Malvern, Pennsylvania, allows the company to better serve customers in the building and construction industry, and enables a more rapid production of Infiana‘s award-winning tailored film products.

The installation and commercial start-up of the extruder ran as expected and precisely on schedule,” confirmed Robert Shumoski, General Manager of Infiana USA. “As a result, we are better positioned than ever to respond to growing customer demand – locally and globally,” Shumoski continued. “The additional production capacity allows us to expand our existing leadership in the building & construction and pressure sensitive markets. Our ability to deliver high-quality products to growth industries such as composites and personal care has also been strengthened.”

The extruder is one of several strategic equipment acquisitions made as part of a 20 million Euro investment into Infiana’s global manufacturing base, as announced earlier this year. In addition to a new extruder, the Malvern facility will be receiving further printing and coating capabilities, expected to be set up and commissioned by H2 2017. By expanding its production and finishing capacity, Infiana not only intends to make inroads in key markets, but to remain responsive to fluctuating demand while improving flexibility in its film production.

Peter K. Wahsner, CEO of the Infiana Group, added: “These investments further reinforce our competency center in North America, building on our existing assets in this region: a broad technology base, efficient machinery, and above all, a highly competent team. This new production capacity will play an important role in delivering Infiana’s customized, client-tailored film solutions on an international scale.”

Infiana’s production site in Malvern currently employs around 100, and supplies the North American market with siliconized release liners as well as non-siliconized smooth and embossed films. Films produced in Malvern are primarily designed for applications in the building & construction, pressure sensitive, and composites industries.
