Inaugural Photonics Spectra Podcast Features Power Technology Vice President
Little Rock, AR - January 28, 2020 - Industry-leading photonics media outlet, Photonics Spectra, is launching a new podcast on January 28, 2020. The first episode features a discussion with Walter Burgess, Vice President of Engineering and Sales for laser diode manufacturer Power Technology.
The podcast, All Things Photonics, will feature news, technical review, and highlights of prominent figures in the photonics industry. Emmet Warren, News Editor for Photonics Spectra, chose Walter Burgess of Power Technology for the first featured interview.
Mr. Warren and Mr. Burgess discussed a broad range of photonics and laser topics including:
- Laser applications for cinema including the competing laser projection technologies used in the cinema industry
- The evolution of photonics technology over the last couple of decades
- 3D printing
- Laser based lithography
Among those topics and others, Mr. Warren and Mr. Burgess discussed Power Technology’s recent celebration of their 50th year in the photonics industry. While reflecting on both industry changes and the evolution of Power Technology over 50 years, Mr. Burgess concluded “while advances in technology have driven business to change over the last 50 years, the one thing that hasn’t changed is our company’s focus on putting our customers first. And, that won’t change over the next 50 years regardless of technical advances.”
Mr. Burgess reflected on Power Technology's five decades of operation manufacturing lasers for analytic, semiconductor and life science applications and discussed the origins of Power Technology on the founder's kitchen table.
