Intel Chairman Emeritus Gordon Moore to Receive 2008 IEEE Medal of Honor



23 January - Gordon E. Moore, chairman of the board, emeritus, at Intel Corporation, has been named as the recipient of the 2008 IEEE Medal of Honor. Moore will be presented with the award 20 September 2008 at the IEEE Honors Ceremony to be held in conjunction with the IEEE Sections Congress. He is widely known for "Moore's Law," which predicted that the number of components the industry would be able to place on a computer chip would double every year. Moore was selected "for pioneering technical roles in integrated-circuit processing, and leadership in the development of MOS memory, the microprocessor computer and the semiconductor industry."
