IBM Awarded TSA Contract for Operational Application Support and Information Services

Project to Improve Information Sharing Across Federal, State and Private Sector Partners

BETHESDA, MD - 19 Sep 2007: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that it has been awarded an IT and software services contract to improve information sharing within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The project is part of the agency's effort to share critical business and mission-related information with key audiences including federal, state, and local law enforcement, foreign partners, intelligence, defense, homeland security and the private sector.

The Operational Application Support and Information Services (OASIS) task order is an Indefinite-Delivery-Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract that will span 5 years with an initial award amount of 98.5 million U.S. dollars. OASIS is part of a DHS-wide acquisition program, termed EAGLE, that was established for the purchase of IT services.

IBM will work with the TSA Information Technology Division to develop a Service Oriented Architecture environment that will leverage and enhance existing IT systems and applications. The objective is to enable faster dissemination of critical information through the agency's current Information Sharing Environment. Improved dissemination will allow stakeholders to receive important information via a variety of communications devices (cell phones, pagers, PDA's, and other standard messaging services). In addition, expanded access to directories of knowledge and personnel contacts will help TSA collaborate across agencies and beyond. The project supports the agencies overall goal of preventing terrorist acts against the United States, and protecting the Nation's transportation systems.

"The TSA's rapidly evolving and flexible environment demands new and innovative ways of distributing information," said John Nyland, Managing Partner, IBM Global Business Services, Public Sector. "We are proud to support the TSA's complex mission to ensure the freedom of movement for people and commerce in the U.S."

IBM is the prime contractor on the OASIS contract, and has assembled a team of business partners to complete the project including Deloitte Consulting and Lockheed Martin, as well as Akamai, Arc Aspicio, Blackstone Consulting Group, Enterprise Solutions Realized, Infoglide, Intellgent Decisions, Knightfork, Microlink, Optimal Solutions and Technologies, Oracle, Pragmatics, Procentrix, RCM Solutions and VIP.
