Honeywell's SmartView(TM) Synthetic Vision Winning Wide Acceptance among Gulfstream Operators

Breakthrough Technology Drives Primus Epic® Upgrades In Gulfstream PlaneView® Cockpits

GENEVA, May 4 -- EBACE -- Honeywell (NYSE:HON) announced today that in less than two years, 30 percent of Gulfstream operators have elected to install Honeywell's SmartView synthetic vision in their PlaneView equipped aircraft.

Gulfstream's Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display (SV-PFD) is based on Honeywell's Primus Epic integrated avionics suite and is in Gulfstream G350, G450, G500 and G550 aircraft.

The latest PlaneView upgrade has several new features including the use of range rings that allow the flight crew a ground reference to gauge the distance of terrain and obstacles from the aircraft, and high resolution runway detailing that allows the crew to clearly identify visually the runway they are taking off from, reducing the risk of a runway incursion.

"Honeywell was the first to certify synthetic vision in Part 25 aircraft. With 150 Gulfstream aircraft equipped with synthetic vision the promise of Primus Epic has been validated and it has set the standard as best-in-class in the industry," said Rob Wilson, president, Business and General Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace. "We designed Primus Epic's architecture to be expandable so that as avionics technology grew, aircraft could be upgraded without cockpit modification."

"The ability of PlaneView cockpits to incorporate next generation capabilities is the true promise of avionics flexibility and growth we pledged to the industry when we began developing Primus Epic 14 years ago," said Carl Esposito, vice president, Marketing and Product Management, Honeywell Aerospace. "In the future, other Primus Epic-equipped aircraft will be NextGen compliant, offering more safety and advanced technologies like SmartView, while giving operators the functionality they need today and the confidence that their cockpits can be further expanded to meet future flight requirements."

Upgrades to Gulfstream PlaneView systems can be performed through Gulfstream Service Centers.

To date, Primus Epic has surpassed over four million reliable flight hours of operation on 2,300 aircraft on 17 different aircraft models.
