Hobart Brothers to Attend, Display Filler Metals at FABTECH International/AWS Welding Show 2007

TROY, Ohio. August 1, 2007-As part of its ongoing commitment to providing filler metal solutions to the fabricating and manufacturing industry, Hobart Brothers will showcase its latest welding wires and stick electrodes at the FABTECH International & AWS Welding Show 2007 in Chicago, November 11-14, 2007 in booth #4070.

Among the newest products to be displayed are Rocket 7024 stick electrodes and Fabshield® XLR-8 self-shielded flux-cored wires. A range of McKay® brand stainless steel products, Hobart® brand low hydrogen stick electrodes, and Tri-Mark® Metalloy® metal- cored wires will also be showcased.

Rocket 7024 is a new E7024 electrode designed with "best of class" features that reduce clean-up and rework, including a new slag system that provides easy slag release from the weld joint, in some cases self-peeling, with no entrapment in the toes of the weld. It features a smooth arc and low spatter levels, along with the ability to weld through moderate mill scale or dirty materials.

The Hobart Fabshield XLR-8 is a self-shielded flux-cored wire featuring reliable out-of-position welding capabilities at both high and low heat inputs. It is especially well suited for vertical-up welds at high current levels and has lower diffusible hydrogen levels than competitive T-8 wires. It meets the new D-Designation under AWS A5.20:2005, making it useable for AWS D1.8 Demand Critical Welds.

McKay brand stainless steel filler metals provide excellent arc characteristics to ensure quality welds, and are available for flat and horizontal or all-position welding. Stainless steel products are available 308, 309 and 316, and other common alloys, and in multiple diameters and package sizes. Product options include stick electrodes, flux cored and metal-cored wires, and solid wire spools and cut-lengths.

Designed for critical applications requiring high strength welds, the Hoballoy line of low alloy, low hydrogen stick electrodes meet the H4 hydrogen requirement (less than 4 ml. per 100 grams of weld deposit) to protect against cracking and minimize rework. These products range from 70,000 to 120,000 psi tensile strength, to meet a range of exact specifications, and are available in two package sizes, 10- or 50-lb. cans, to ease inventory and portability.

The Metalloy family of metal-cored wires includes Metalloy 90, 100 and 110, which are designed for welding high tensile strength steels such as A514, A517, HY-80, and A710 (ranging from 80- to 110-ksi). Metalloy Vantage and Vantage Ni1 are formulated to reduce silicon island formation and produce weld bead toe lines that are almost completely free of silicon deposits. Ni1 is designed for high toughness applications and can be used when joining HSLA weathering steels that do not require color match. Vantage D2 shares the same silicon-controlling technology and is also ideal for joining HSLA steels. Vantage D2 is a direct equivalent of ER80S-D2 and is a good alternative when higher deposition rates and travel speeds are desired.
