Henry Schein Completes Acquisition of Scil Animal Care
MELVILLE, N.Y., – Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world's largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, announced today the completion of its acquisition of scil animal care company GmbH. scil animal care is a highly specialized distributor of animal health laboratory and imaging diagnostic products and services to veterinarians primarily in North America and Europe. This transaction was announced on January 19, 2015.
scil animal care had sales for the 12 months ended December 31, 2014 of approximately $82.6 million (EUR 62.2 million). As previously reported, Henry Schein expects the acquisition to be slightly dilutive to its 2015 earnings per share.

The addition of scil animal care adds Canada, Italy and Malaysia to the list of countries where Henry Schein Animal Health serves veterinary customers. Henry Schein Animal Health currently serves veterinary customers in 12 European countries, including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Henry Schein Animal Health also has businesses in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. In 2014, Henry Schein's global Animal Health business had sales of approximately $2.9 billion.
The addition of scil animal care brings the total number of countries where Henry Schein, Inc. has operations or affiliates to 29, the newest being Malaysia.
Founded in 1998 with headquarters in Viernheim, Germany, scil animal care sells, services and supports laboratory diagnostic and imaging solutions to veterinarians in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Malaysia and Spain, with a distribution presence in 25 additional countries.
