Hamai Announces Distribution Alliance and Co-Branding Agreement with Lapmaster
Tokyo, Japan based Machine Tool builder, HAMAI CO. LTD., has established a strategic sales distribution alliance and co-branding agreement with Mt. Prospect, IL USA based LAPMASTER INTERNATIONAL, LLC. By arrangement, the equipment will be sold under the "Lapmaster-Hamai" brand name in the USA, China, India and Europe. This new relationship provides Hamai with an opportunity to expand its markets geographically and broaden sales beyond those to Japanese affiliated companies.
The sales distribution alliance pertains to all "double-sided lapping" and "double-sided polishing" machines currently offered by Hamai. These machines typically process various components used in the electronics industry including semiconductor wafers, hard drive disk substrates and various material for electro-optics industries. World-class Hamai double-sided equipment is known for a dynamic range of double-sided processing machinery, unsurpassed within the industry. In addition, Hamai is a recognized manufacturer of semiconductor CMP and wafer handling/measuring equipment.
Lapmaster International designs, manufactures and sells single-sided and double-sided processing machinery, as well as fine-grinding and bore-honing abrasive equipment. Established in 1945, Lapmaster provides a solid global organization with manufacturing and sales facilities located in the USA, UK, India & China.
By this agreement, Lapmaster has the right to sell Hamai equipment in all of these countries, with some limited exclusions.
Hamai also has sales offices in Shanghai and Guangdhou China.
The Lapmaster-Hamai alliance also covers post-sales service and support regarding field service and maintenance. The Lapmaster field service engineering group will work with the Hamai team in providing timely, efficient and affordable local equipment support. This value-added feature will add an attractive cost of ownership dimension for prospective equipment buyers to consider.
HAMAI's consolidated sales have increased by 39% in the last fiscal year, with revenues now exceeding 12 billion Yen. The constant demand for new equipment to enable the processing of the new, larger diameter 300mm silicon wafers has supported this growth.
In order to maintain an increased export rate of machine tools, Hamai is taking steps to ensure continuous growth in their alliance with Lapmaster to strengthen global sales and services.
