Grupo Marsans Exercises Options for PW4000 Engines in Deal Valued at US$285 Million

SINGAPORE, Feb. 20 - SINGAPORE AIRSHOW - Grupo Marsans, the largest tourism and transport group in Spain, has exercised options to purchase Pratt & Whitney PW4000-100" engines to power five new Airbus A330 aircraft. The engine and maintenance agreement is valued at more than US$285 million. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

The order follows Grupo Marsans' purchase of 12 firm PW4000-powered A330 jets at the 2007 Paris Air Show. The PW4000 engines are covered by an exclusive service agreement provided by Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners. The A330s will be operated by Grupo Marsans' Air Comet and Aerolineas Argentinas airlines with new aircraft deliveries beginning in 2010.

"This fleet expansion confirms Grupo Marsans commitment to develop and expand our long haul network," said Gonzalo Pascual, president of Grupo Marsans. "The PW4000 engines are the highest performing, most efficient engines for this fleet and will support our expansion in Latin America and around the world."

The PW4000 engines feature the Advantage70(TM) technology upgrade that will deliver enhanced engine performance, lower fuel consumption, increased durability and reduced maintenance costs. Grupo Marsans is the launch customer for Advantage70 in Europe and South America.

"We are proud to continue our relationship with Grupo Marsans by powering their long-haul fleet expansion with reliable PW4000 engines," said Todd Kallman, president of Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. "The PW4000 with Advantage70 offers improved performance, fuel efficiency and maintenance costs for the A330 family of aircraft."

Pratt & Whitney has over 17,000 aircraft engines installed with hundreds of airlines around the world. Pratt & Whitney is also a leading partner in two joint venture companies that manufacture commercial aircraft engines: International Aero Engines, which makes the V2500 for the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, and the Engine Alliance, whose GP7200 engine is FAR 33 certified for the new Airbus A380.

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines. United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and building industries.
