Gough Econ Hires New Sales Engineer


CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Vernon Whitaker, PE has joined Gough Econ, Inc. as Sales Engineer in the Charlotte, NC manufacturing facility. He will be reporting to Andy Leitch, Vice President of Sales. Vernon will be responsible for performing engineering and sales duties related to developing, pricing, bidding, and managing projects for a diverse group of customers.



Vernon brings with him a wealth of packaging and process experience, and industry knowledge in the food and confectionary industries. Most recently Vernon was Technical Manager at Sugar Foods Corporation, where he managed engineering and maintenance teams over two Bakery facilities, located in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Prior to that, Vernon spent 17 years as Engineering Project Manager at Mars, Inc. where he led project teams consisting of engineers, designers, and contractors while successfully managing large capital projects. He worked in three different Mars divisions of confectionary, snack food, and pet food. Vernon earned several corporate awards for cost cutting measures and excellence in project management.



Vernon is a cum laude graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and completed graduate level Engineering Administration courses. Vernon is also a registered Professional Engineer.



Vernon and his wife Lisa have two daughters, Maryashley and Amanda. Vernon is a devoted family man that spends the majority of the time off traveling to visit his extended family in Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee and Los Angeles. Vernon enjoys travel, sports, woodworking, golf, fishing, and hiking.



Gough Econ, Inc. designs, manufactures, installs and maintains a diverse line of machinery for handling and conveying bulk products such as cereal, snack foods, pet food, candy, meat, hardware, ammunition, batteries, powders, etc.
