German Innovation Award for ACD Elektronik
Secure operating system for mobile devices wins award
At the German Innovation Award 2021, ACD Elektronik GmbH is one of the award winners for the second time in a row: after the modular handheld computer M2Smart® last year, the modern software platform Android™ Industrial+ has now been awarded, which was developed especially with regard to the industrial use of mobile devices and data security. The Award, initiated by the German Bundestag and sponsored by German industry, honors cross-industry products and solutions that distinguish themselves primarily through user-centricity and added value compared to previous solutions. User-friendliness meets security
In order to make the award-winning operating system suitable for industrial use, special attention was paid to the issue of security during development. All critical services and functions that could lead to unwanted data exchange with third parties were eliminated without restricting the usual convenience of the Android™ system. The source code of the operating system is held by the manufacturer in Germany, which guarantees long-term availability. In addition, there is an extensive service for security patches and bug fixing. At the same time, the operating system scores with quick and easy device configuration thanks to the "ACD EasyToConfig" app developed especially for administrators and other supporting apps, for example the ACD KioskMode as a secure alternative to the standard "Android™ Homescreen". This gives the user access only to certain apps pre-selected by the device administrator, which prevents unwanted access. Comprehensive service and support round off the package: The developers of ACD Elektronik are based in Achstetten in Upper Swabia and thus offer short response times for customer-specific adjustments or questions. The advantage of being able to communicate easily, without language barriers and, if necessary, directly with the development team is irreplaceable and unique on the market.
