General Carbide Dedicates New Materials Laboratory

General Carbide, Greensburg, PA has not allowed the recent economic downturn to delay
improved service to its customers and has moved forward with a new Materials
Laboratory. This new lab is better equipped to conduct improved raw materials
evaluations, enhanced failure analyses on returned parts and improved quality control
measurements for in-process procedures and final sintered product. New material and
grade development efforts led by Chief Metallurgist, Dr. Leonid Frayman, and his
technical staff, will be accelerated and enhanced. The company will be better able to
respond to customer requests for new grades as well as improved standard grades. Grain
structure evaluation and photomicrography services are integral to assuring that only the
highest quality product is shipped from General Carbide facilities.

dies to wear resistant components for general industrial applications. In Feb 2009, the
Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) re-certified General Carbide
as a woman-owned business. All manufacturing of tungsten carbide preformed, semifinished
blanks and finished components are done at its facilities located in Greensburg,
