GE Fanuc Automation Announces Support of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and BizTalk Server 2006 In New Proficy(TM) Enterprise Connector

Capabilities Ensure Customers Reliable Integration of Plant Floor Applications

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - November 7, 2005- GE Fanuc Automation, a leading provider of manufacturing hardware and software solutions, announces plans to use Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and BizTalk Server 2006 as core components in its new Proficy(TM) Enterprise Connector product.

By using BizTalk Server and SQL Server as enhanced components to providing Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), the Proficy integrated suite of products achieves a flexible approach to connecting information from the Proficy Plant Floor applications to a wide variety of higher-level systems. Further, the High Availability capabilities of the Windows Server System architecture ensure that customers requiring reliable integration of plant floor with higher-level systems can be achieved with off-the-shelf components, and widely-used technology.

"Since there are such a wide variety of adapters for BizTalk Server, our ability to react to customer requirements for connectivity to any of the big Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems can be achieved with a single product and integration approach," said Rich Carpenter, GE Fanuc Vice President of Software Technology. "The flexibility of this approach allows us to provide integration of manufacturing systems data with virtually any business systems, achieving the Real Time Enterprise."

Because the Proficy Enterprise Connector was designed for BizTalk Server 2004, and SQL Server 2000, the migration to BizTalk Server 2006 and SQL Server 2005 was virtually seamless with the added the benefits from the advances in security, reliability and manageability that come with these new products.

The Proficy Automation and Production software family spans from programming and control to HMI / SCADA, to historian and MES, to a real-time information portal.
