Ge Energy's Optimization and Control Division Wins Global Safety Award

MINDEN, NEV.-November 2, 2005- GE Energy's optimization and control services division, headquartered in Minden, Nev., has been recognized with a GE Corporate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) excellence award for executing nearly three million hours without a single "OSHA recordable" incident in 2004. This achievement is particularly notable because of the many potentially hazardous locations this division's employees visit while serving their customers.

"It's incredibly gratifying to be recognized as the safest services team in all of GE," said Jim Junker, general manager for GE Energy's optimization and control services division. "This is a tremendous accomplishment for our team and a real testament to their dedication, professionalism and attention to detail. It also speaks volumes about GE's commitment to sending its employees home safely at the end of the day."

The Corporate EHS Excellence - Services award recognizes outstanding performance in all GE environmental health and safety measures. The Minden-based services group achieved top scores in all categories.

In a congratulatory letter to the optimization and control services team, Stephen Ramsey, vice president, GE's corporate environmental programs, praised the entire organization. "This performance is a tribute to your leadership, as well as the efforts of the site EHS team and the plant employees," said Ramsey. "Congratulations to you and your team on your fantastic results."

The optimization and control services division is a distributed network of 400 people operating in over 100 countries, performing plant asset management services for a diverse array of customers. The group provides on-site installation, upgrade, customization and trouble-shooting services for customers in power generation, petrochemical, oil and gas (including offshore installations), pulp and paper, shipbuilding and many other industrial segments. This team has had outstanding EHS injury illness performance over the last two and a half years, and is nearing four million (currently 3.7 million) hours worked without a recordable injury. The team experienced its last recordable injury in June of 2002.
