Highlights from the 2016 Northeast Lean Conference



GBMP's 12th annual event, held last week in Worcester MA, attracted more than 600 professionals from the manufacturing, healthcare and service industries.



Newton, MA - GBMP held its Annual Northeast Lean Conference in Worcester MA last week, providing networking and education on the subject of Lean and Continuous Improvement to more than 600 attendees from more than 200 organizations in 24 states and Canada.



"We are delighted to have hosted our largest group ever. The learning, sharing and networking which occurred will enable attendees to have the knowledge, confidence and resources to apply Lean methodologies in their own organizations to accelerate meaningful change", said Bruce Hamilton, GBMP President.



With five concurrent tracks and a focus on hands-on learning (Lean-By-Doing), attendees had many options to pursue the topics and sessions which most interested and applied to them. Attendees learned from industry experts as well as their peers who are also on a Lean journey. The conference featured five epic keynote presentations, from Art Byrne, Dr. Eric Dickson, David Mann, John Shook and Steven Spear, plus 35 practitioner presentations emphasizing the tacit nature of implementing Lean, the importance of tying together its technical and social sides, the significance of management's involvement and the tools needed sustain the gains.



David Mann: Executives Need Standard Work Too

In addition, twelve organizations participated in The Community of Lean Lounge Showcase and seventeen exhibitors offered services and supplies to aid Lean Transformation. Awarded annually to a front line employee who exemplifies the spirit of continuous improvement, The Silver Toaster Award for Employee Excellence in Lean was awarded to Cindi Woodbury from The Gem Group in Lawrence MA.
