FSR Offers Two Continuing Education Courses Geared Toward Interior Designers

Courses teach how to blend communication and information technology into design elements for heightened presenter and user experience

Woodland Park, NJ (May 15, 2018) – — FSR, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of infrastructure solution products for the audio/video, Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), corporate, education, hospitality, and government markets, is offering two new continuing education courses geared toward the interior design community. Both courses are approved by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC); and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and Lourdes Collins, FSR Director, Furniture and Design Channel, has been certified to teach both.

According to Collins the courses are available to all, but specifically target Design Firms whose customers need to integrate information technology, audio / visual equipment and control devices into design elements for shared, heightened and convenient communications. “Today’s designers face a dual challenge,” explains Collins, “they not only have to provide high-performance high-design environments, but one that allows easy and reliable access to functional technology as well. These courses will expand their knowledge of collaboration spaces and connectivity options, and discuss alternative practices when designing and arranging furniture for successful boardrooms, hospitality venues, schools, or similar projects.”

Course descriptions

Designing Successful Technology - Rich Collaboration Spaces

This course introduces various types of collaborative environments and the challenges associated with the design of these rooms. It will focus on stake-holder input, design, layout and implementation and discuss how furniture choice and placement, technology integration, connectivity and equipment storage can impact the user’s experience and productivity. Real-life examples of spaces and solutions will be offered throughout the presentation.

AV & IT Connectivity in Ceilings, Walls, Floors and Tables

This course will take the attendee on a journey from the traditional presentation spaces of yesterday, through the technology revolution driving the design of today and tomorrow’s Auditoriums, Classrooms, and Conference Rooms. Along the way the instructor will discuss how changes in AV & IT connectivity can impact– and improve - the experience for both audience and presenter.

“We are extremely pleased to continue to bring value and knowledge to the design community via these two new courses,” says Jan Sandri, FSR president. “Education improves competence and skill and is a powerful tool to strengthen any individual and elevate an entire profession. We are proud that Lourdes has been certified to teach these courses and are already scheduling classes.”
