FrymaKoruma at Interphex 2013

Highly flexible and hygienic processes

The FrymaKoruma MZ toothed colloid mill will be the centrepiece of the Romaco FrymaKoruma exhibit at this year's Interphex in New York (USA). This milling system is used for wet grinding of suspensions and other products of almost any viscosity.

FrymaKoruma MZ toothed colloid mill

The toothed colloid mills in the MZ series are FrymaKoruma's response to the increased demands in all industrial sectors with regard to flexibility and hygiene management. With its innovative design, the technology is suited for wet grinding pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical applications of almost any viscosity. The milling system impresses with its rotor-stator principle: a ring-shaped stator with internal teeth slides over a high-speed rotor with external teeth, making sure each product is always milled to the correct size. The rotor revolves in the stator around its own axis at speeds that can peak at up to 50 metres per second. With a choice of coarse, standard or cross-toothed tools and an individually adjustable milling gap, optimal processing is guaranteed whatever the formulation. The shearing, rebound and crushing forces acting on the product can be precisely controlled because the rotor speed is continuously variable. The mill is available in several different versions – from laboratory models with a product throughput of 100 litres an hour to industrial types capable of handling up to 40,000 litres, depending on the application. The engineers responsible for designing the mill paid particular attention to eliminating all dead spaces such as gaps, corners or slots from the interior. Residues from the production process are thus prevented from accumulating. The risk of contamination of subsequent batches can be ruled out. Finally, owing to the integration of CIP (Cleaning in Place) and SIP (Sterilisation in Place), this cGMP-compliant system simultaneously redefines the benchmarks for hygiene management and product safety.

The Romaco FrymaKoruma technology will be on show at the Interphex trade fair in New York (USA) from April 23 to 25, 2013 (Stand 3033).
