Freudenberg-NOK to Showcase Revolutionary Technology in Industrial Seals at the Mecanica Fair

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – To celebrate 85 years of innovation in sealing components, Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies will have a presence at the 2014 Mecanica Fair- one of the largest industrial showcases in Latin America - with a series of exclusive products. The products that will be shown have been recently launched in the world market to meet the new efficiency standards set by the machinery and equipment industry.

With the dedication of more than 200 scientists and state-of-the-art research equipment, the company's development work on the new products ranged from the molecular structure to the design of the parts. As a result, it was possible to reach unprecedented levels of energy saving, performance, durability, resistance to aggressive environments, compatibility with various media and respect for the environment.

Hydraulic Systems

One of the products that will be launched by Freudenberg-NOK at the Mecanica fair is a new type of polyurethane for hydraulic applications. A result of three years of research, the compound withstands temperatures between -35 and 120 degrees C, mineral or synthetic fluids, pressure peaks and ozone attack. With the material, seals last up to four times more.

Another solution for extreme operating conditions is the piston seal HDP 330. For maximum performance, it is manufactured in two parts, with a slide ring made of polyamide attached to an energizer made of nitrile rubber or HNBR. It is extremely resistant to extrusion and abrasion, and it withstands pressures of 800 bar. It is ideal for cylinders with varying levels of roughness.

For transmissions and actuators, the company developed a new set of rotary hydraulic seals. Made of thermoplastic polyurethane, the new Rotomatic 2C is simpler to assemble than traditional elastomer products and is capable of withstanding high temperatures and pressures (500 bar - 100 degrees C), besides being more resistant to cutting and extrusion.

Pneumatic Line

Professionals that specialize in industrial pneumatic brakes and circuits will also find innovative products at the booth of Freudenberg-NOK in the Mecanica fair. One of the products that will be launched is the D-Jack, a high performance seal for systems that use dry lubricated pistons. It results from the union of special elastomers and PTFE coatings.

Also on display in Brazil is a line of composite diaphragms. To achieve the best compromise between strength and flexibility, they combine membranes made of polyester, polyamide or aramid, with materials such as nitrile rubber or FKM, and contact surfaces made of PTFE or TFM. They may also have metal or plastic inserts.

Industrial Equipment

At the Mecanica fair, Freudenberg-NOK will feature many innovative seals for companies that operate in the areas of design, construction and maintenance of industrial equipment. These seals are designed for the most challenging applications, such as Simriz 498 O-rings made of perfluoroelastomer (FFKM), which is able to withstand working temperatures above 325 degrees C.

For machines that operate under extreme conditions, the company will be presenting at the fair the new technology of Radiamatic HTS II shaft seals. Made up of a PTFE seal and a stainless steel ring, they operate at temperatures up to 200 degrees C and circumferential speed of 25 m/s. They also offer several design options for different applications.

The new Track Roller floating seals are now available for equipment subjected to weathering and dirt. Made up of an O-ring (made of NBR, HNBR or FKM material) attached to an alloy cast iron ring, they are capable of withstanding the intense contact with water, dust, mud, sand or fibers and they also withstand the harshest weather conditions, such as temperatures between -40 and 100 degrees C.

Diesel Technology

For specialists in industrial motors, Freudenberg-NOK will show the latest products of the LESS (Low Emission Sealing Solutions) line. They are sustainable seals that have been created because of the new challenges faced by manufacturers of propeller sets and power generator units, such as reduced weight, reduced friction, increased strength and minimum emissions.

Among the new products that will be presented, there is the curve gasket. With its unprecedented design, inspired by the efficiency of corrugated materials, it is lighter and it costs less and offers high sealing power. It is used for cam covers and its shape and composition can be changed to suit each application, until it reaches maximum performance and durability.

Freudenberg-NOK will also showcase a number of solutions currently provided by the company to leading manufacturers of engines in the world, such as the encoder and magnetic seals, low friction seals of the CASCO and ESS series, Gas Lip valve stem seals and Plug Seal metal-rubber connectors, which are applied in water, air and oil circuits.

On Demand

The professionals that visit the Freudenberg-NOK booth in the Mecanica fair will also get to know the potential of the Freudenberg Xpress, a service which is capable of machining over 120 models of hydraulic and pneumatic seals (in many different materials) in less than 24 hours. It is an ideal solution for manufacturing prototypes, spare parts and major components.

Imported from Germany and configured with the help of the Company's main office, the computerized machining center installed in the city of Diadema, state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, manufactures seals, O-rings, wipers, guide strips and backups that are between 4.5 and 500 mm in diameter. Special items (up to three meters) are cast abroad and delivered to Brazil in record time.

Mecanica Fair 2014

The 30(th) edition of the Mecanica fair will be held at Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion, in the city of Sao Paulo, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, between May 20 and 24th. Freudenberg-NOK will be located at booth L501. Its teams will be available at the booth every day from 10 am to 7 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. http://www.mecanica.com.br/en/
