Fresh Ideas in Boundary Scan Applications - Preview for Nepcon Shanghai for JTAG Technologies - April 23rd to 25th

– Booth # 1F 80 , New Shanghai Convention Center -

Eindhoven, the Netherlands – JTAG Technologies, leader in Boundary Scan Applications,  will feature the following new products at Nepcon Shanghai this year:

CoreCommander for FPGAs

This new tool from JTAG Technologies offers a generic solution based on VHDL code that allows engineers to bridge from the standard JTAG test and programming port (TAP) to proprietary IP cores (e.g. DDR controllers, E-net MAC, USB controllers etc.) and harness them for test purposes. Forming part of its exciting range of ETP (Embedded Test and Programming) products, CoreCommander FPGA is aimed primarily at hardware design and test engineers.

The base of CoreCommander for FPGAs uses a translator block to access proprietary IP cores through commonly implemented bus structures such as 'Wishbone', AMBA, Avalon and CoreConnect. This translator block, provided as a VHDL module, can be either permanently or temporarily programmed into a gate–array. Linker software provided with the module automatically links the translator block with IP blocks to build the complete (test) design to be programmed in the FPGA.

Use of CoreCommander functions can be either interactive or 'automatic' - via library routines in a scripting environment. The interactive mode is intended for use by design engineers to interrogate and control the IP blocks in their FPGA during debug. The automatic mode however is more likely to find favour during (at-speed) logic cluster testing in manufacturing.

JTAGLive Studio – also New!

Lowest-cost boundary-scan suite covers all applications

JTAGLive Studio is a comprehensive package of JTAG/boundary-scan tools that enable designers and manufacturing test engineers alike to develop complete test and programming applications - at an unprecedented [low] price level.

The benefits offered by the JTAG Technology for debugging, testing and in-system programming are not limited to complex designs with many JTAG devices. Designs with only a few, even just one or two, JTAG devices can also greatly benefit from this technology during all stages of the life cycle. A toolset capable of handling even the most (very) complex boundary-scan designs, however, often is not economically feasible for a company that only uses a few JTAG devices in its designs.

JTAGLive Studio establishes a new class of test and device-programming tool-set that dramatically lowers the cost of entry for test and hardware engineers, while still offering the many traditional benefits of JTAG/boundary-scan alongside newer technologies like processor-controlled test.

Latest Revision of JTAG ProVision

Drawing on unmatched industry experience and engineering know-how, we leveraged the robustness and dependability of our professional-grade Classic boundary-scan tools to create JTAG ProVision. ProVision has quickly earned recognition as the leading development tool for all boundary-scan applications. It's the only tool that combines advanced automation with the level of control and precision that engineers demand to maximize their designs. With ProVision, engineers can quickly prepare tests and in-system programming routines and then be able to examine and manage the details for optimum coverage. To consider some of the features and benefits:

• Able to handle single-chain and multi-chain boards, single- and multi-board designs

• Design wizard for all applications

• Advanced viewing and controls

• Integrated with JTAG Visualizer

• Fault coverage analysis

• Automation based on device model library

• Support for IEEE 1149.6
