BIO Announces IAR - The French Bioeconomy Cluster as a Key Supporting Organization of the 2016 BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology
Washington, D.C. -- The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) is pleased to announce that Europe’s largest cluster of bioeconomy companies, IAR, will be a top supporting organization of BIO’s 13th Annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology. IAR represents more than 300 innovative companies and technology developers who produce biofuels and biobased products from agricultural residue and biomass. At this year’s conference, IAR will sponsor 400 square feet of Exhibit Space and panel a Breakout Session. The world’s largest industrial biotechnology event will be held April 17-20, 2016 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA.
“We are pleased that one of the largest technology incubators in Europe will be a supporting organization for the 2016 BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology,” said Brent Erickson, executive vice president for BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section. “Attendees will be able to meet and hear directly from IAR representatives on what the industry is doing in Europe to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and help grow the bioeconomy.”
“As the European cluster reference dedicated to the bioeconomy, IAR is pleased to collaborate this year again with BIO,” said Boris Dumange, Director General of IAR. “With more than 25 people in this year’s IAR’s delegation to the BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology, the event is a unique opportunity to meet with the French bioeconomy community and discuss potential collaborations and partnerships,” Dumange concluded.
On Monday, April 18, 2016, IAR will co-host a Breakout panel as part of the Advanced Biofuels and Biorefinery Platforms Track. Titled “Filling the Gap from Labscale to Commercialization: De-risking Investments and Reducing Time to Market,” panelists will discuss what is required for companies to successfully bring pilot projects to commercialization. Potential prerequisites to be addressed include efficient equipment, securing investors, and skilled workers who special in managing the interface between metabolic engineering and bio process engineering.
