Freescale Introduces 8-bit MC9RS08KB Microcontroller Family


Newest cost-effective solution for entry-level applications offers simplicity without sacrificing design flexibility and performance.

AUSTIN, Texas - Freescale Semiconductor introduced the new entry-level MC9RS08KB (RS08KB) 8-bit family featuring an integrated peripheral set deigned to improve system performance and save additional component costs. The RS08KB microcontrollers (MCU) include an efficient RS08 core that supports interrupt capability and helps to improve overall system performance. The RS08KB family eases migration by offering multiple package and flash size options and pin compatibility with other 5V families. CodeWarrior Development Studio for Microcontrollers speeds time to market and supports the RS08KB and other Freescale 8-bit families.

Availability and pricing

The RS08KB 20SOIC and 16TSSOP packages are in volume production. The 8DFN and 8SOIC packages are now in production, and the 16SOICN is expected to start production in April, 2010. Samples are available for order now. The 10K suggested price for RS08KB12 starts from $0.71 (USD)*; RS08KB2 starts from a suggested price of $0.46 (USD)*.

The DEMO9RS08KB12 demonstration board is available now for a suggested price of $59 (USD)*.
