Franklin Electronic Publishers and Langenscheidt Verlag Enter Into Global Licensing Agreement


Agreement Provides for Franklin's Distribution of New Electronic Dictionaries under the Franklin(R) and Seiko(R) Brands

MUNICH, Germany and BURLINGTON, N.J., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Franklin Electronic Publishers, Inc. (AMEX:FEP), a world leader in handheld information, has entered into an Omnibus Licensing Agreement with the Langenscheidt Verlag (Publisher) that provides for the companies to cooperate in producing and marketing electronic dictionaries with content from Langenscheidt.

As a result of the strategic alliance between Franklin and Seiko Instruments Inc. (SII), a Japanese market leader, the licensed Langenscheidt titles will be incorporated into a new Multi-Title Dictionary Line of handheld products for distribution by Franklin and SII in the Asian and European markets.

Initially, Franklin is distributing the products under both the Franklin and Seiko brands in the German-speaking markets. The cooperation of Franklin and Langenscheidt provides a broad range of up-to-date dictionary content, reference works, and language guides for Franklin's new generation of e-dictionaries.
