Fornelli Awarded: Mooresville South Iredell Chamber Business Person of the Year

Stock Car Steel and SRI owner Greg Fornelli was honored on January 31st by the Mooresville South Iredell Chamber of Commerce when he took home the prestigious Business Person of the Year Award. Already a highly decorated businessman, Fornelli was honored to be recognized by his local community. When the award was announced, Fornelli humbly placed most of the credit for the accomplishment upon his loyal employees.
“Mooresville is simply a great place to do business. Every year that I’ve been a part of the Mooresville business community, my employees have stuck with me. They are instrumental in making moments like this happen,” said Fornelli.
The award was presented by Randy Marion, a well-known car dealership owner in the Charlotte area. Mooresville South Iredell Chamber of Commerce president Kirk Ballard believes Fornelli’s ability to adapt through difficult circumstances is what makes him a noteworthy Mooresville businessman.
“Greg’s ability to adapt, improvise and overcome in a difficult economy is just one reason that he is an outstanding business person; all this while handling a difficult medical illness made him an inspiration. He is a worthy choice for our Randy Marion Business Person of the Year Award,” Ballard noted.
The award puts Fornelli in good company, as legendary NASCAR team owner and businessman Robert Yates received the same honor from the Chamber in 2006.
