Former BEL Director to Chair IPC APEX India Technical Conference



I.V. Sarma brings industry experience, technical expertise to role



BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA — I. V. Sarma will lead the team of experts responsible for developing the technical conference for IPC APEX India™, 19–22 May 2014, in Bangalore. A former board member and director of R&D for defense manufacturer Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), Sarma brings more than 38 years of industry experience to IPC APEX India, an event designed to support the continued growth of India’s electronics manufacturing industry.



“The goal of the technical conference is to deliver valuable information to attendees about new and emerging innovations,” said David Bergman, IPC vice president of international relations. “Mr. Sarma’s significant experience in the electronics industry in India, along with his proven leadership skills, makes him the ideal person to chair the committee responsible for identifying the best papers to present at IPC APEX India.”



Throughout his career, Sarma has served in roles including R&D, manufacturing, business development, project management, strategic planning, factory set-up and joint ventures. His technical expertise covers radars, communication systems, C41 projects, electronic warfare, naval systems, optoelectronics, electronic components, telecommunications, solar power and e-governance. Sarma’s work has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including three Raksha Mantri’s Excellence awards, SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises) awards for R&D, SODET (Society of Defence Technologists) awards and others. An electronics and communications engineer, Sarma also holds an MBA from FMS, Delhi University.
