ForeScout to Deliver Network Access Control Enforcement Integrated with Sun Java Identity Management Solutions

Live Demonstration of Joint Solution to be Presented at ForeScout's Booth (#431) at RSA

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 5 -- RSA Conference -- ForeScout Technologies, the creator of CounterACT, an enterprise grade tailored network access control (NAC), today announced the completed integration of ForeScout's CounterACT with the Sun Java(TM) Access Manager and Sun Java(TM) Identity Manager solutions. This integration allows CounterACT to not only ensure and enforce compliance of network security policies, but also pair connecting devices with their identity profile in Sun Java Access Manager. With this combined knowledge of role-based information and network infrastructure knowledge, network security policies can be enforced, providing an unprecedented level of user-specific enterprise security.

Sun is recognized as a global leader in identity management with billions of user identities worldwide currently managed by Sun's Identity products. The integration with ForeScout's CounterACT allows maximum control over access to network resources in compliance with corporate security policies. For example, a network policy can be created to force all connecting devices on an enterprise network to authenticate to Sun's Identity solution, pairing the physical device with a user's role and matching permissions. This functionality brings a granular level of enforcement significantly increasing the level of control and security in enterprise environments.

"Enterprise networks are increasingly complex and distributed, with a multitude of users including employees, partners and contractors requiring access to critical business information from network endpoints that may be poorly managed, unmanaged, or in many cases, completely unmanageable. The ability to detect a connecting device and determine the user's identity granting the appropriate level of access rights based upon the user's role provides a security advantage for protecting enterprises," said Lawrence Orans, research director at Gartner. "As the access control market evolves and access control deployments increase in scale and scope, enterprises will benefit from solutions that enable them to leverage existing investments in network and security infrastructure, and are capable of interoperating seamlessly within heterogeneous IT environments including Identity Management systems."

"As the world leader in Identity and Access Management solutions, Sun is pleased to bring enterprise customers better control of network access based on a user's identity," said Don Bowen, Director of Identity Management for Software Infrastructure at Sun.

"Customer demand has driven the integration of network-based access control with identity management," stated Gord Boyce, global vice president sales and marketing for ForeScout Technologies. "Enterprises of all sizes recognize the need to ensure devices connecting to their infrastructure are compliant with network security policies and enforce those policies as well as the identity and rights of the person using the device. The resultant combination of these two critical pieces of information creates a more controlled and secure environment where users and their devices are accessing only appropriate, approved resources."

Live Demonstration at RSA

Sun Microsystems and ForeScout representatives will be available to show a live demonstration of the integration between Sun's Access Manager and Identity Manager and ForeScout's CounterACT at ForeScout's RSA booth (#431). RSA will be held at Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California on February 5-8, 2007.

About ForeScout

ForeScout's clientless network access control (NAC) solutions enable customers to implement and enforce network access policies of both managed and unmanaged devices in both a pre and post connect mode to gain complete control over network security without disrupting end-user productivity. ForeScout's flagship product, CounterACT, combines NAC and signature-less intrusion prevention in a single network appliance that interrogates and enforces controlled access of every device while seamlessly integrating with any existing IT infrastructure. ForeScout's NAC is completely transparent and enables enterprises to tailor enforcement to match the exact level of each policy violation, eliminating disruptions during device interrogation. Today, Fortune 1000 corporations and government agencies have deployed ForeScout appliances globally controlling access to their networks and resources, defending against hackers and self-propagating malware, and ensuring business continuity. ForeScout's headquarters are located in Cupertino, California. More information can be found at www.forescout.com/
