FlowCAM® Instrumentation Sales Jump 67% vs. 2009, Global Demand Defies Economy
Yarmouth, ME: Particle imaging and analysis instrumentation manufacturer Fluid Imaging Technologies, Yarmouth, Maine (www.FluidImaging.com) has broken another record. After reporting 10 consecutive years of record-breaking sales of its FlowCAM® particle imaging and analysis system, the company reports its orders during Dec., 2010 topped $1 million, an increase of 67% vs. Dec., 2009. Fortune 500 pharmaceutical, petroleum and oil giants, biotechnical firms, oceanographic and university researchers and municipal water quality authorities on six continents represent several of the company's new and repeat customer orders earned during December. An increasing understanding of the power of imaging in particle analysis, a renewed focus on quality assurance among manufacturers and water quality professionals along with the global movement towards automation contributed to the sales record, according to CEO Kent Peterson, the recent "Business Leader of the Year" from Mainebiz.
"Now that there's a critical mass of FlowCAM users in nearly every industry all over the world, the need for our imaging particle analysis system has become largely self-evident among anyone in the know," says Peterson. "That these orders were booked by such a wide variety of companies in a single month validates the role of imaging particle analysis in nearly any application where microscopy would be considered." The FlowCAM automatically takes high-resolution, digital images of individual particles and microorganisms in a fluid, measures dozens of parameters in real time and saves the images and data for analysis. Organizations relying on the FlowCAM include the U.S. EPA, U.S. Naval Research Labs, Welch's Foods, Nestle and the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA). The company earned the 2010 Maine International Trade and Investment Award as Exporter of the Year and was named New England Region Exporter of the Year by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA).
