ASTM International Sponsors Symposium on Uncertainty in Fire Standards and What to Do About It
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-A symposium on Uncertainty in Fire Standards and What to Do About It will be held June 16 at the Marriott Anaheim in Anaheim, Calif. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee E05 on Fire Standards, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of the committee.
The objective of the symposium is to discuss different issues related to uncertainty in fire standards. The discussion will cover how different parties - testing laboratories, enforcement authorities, manufacturers, practicing engineers - incorporate uncertainty into their use of results from fire safety tests and calculations.
Discussion will also include some of the larger implications (legal, technical, ethical) for these different approaches, and will provide overviews of some of the latest technical guidance for handling uncertainty contained in ASTM standards and in other standards and documents.
By the end of the symposium, attendees will be better able to discharge their own responsibilities for quantification and consideration of uncertainty in their own areas of responsibilities.
Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the workshop and closes June 8. The fees to attend the workshop for non-ASTM members are $50 USD for online registration and $75 USD for onsite registration. There is no attendance fee for ASTM members, session chairs, presenters and students with a valid ID.
