Fiberplex 'Roadies' to Demo Emergent Fiber Apps

FiberPlex Technologies is taking to the road in its new “fiber lab on wheels” to demonstrate the latest in fiber optic communications.

The industrial truck has been equipped with more than a mile of optical cabling along with FiberPlex multiplexers, converters and assorted equipment for the purpose of demonstrating emergent fiber optic applications, including the transportation of audio, video and data used in defense, manufacturing, transportation, system integration and more.

FiberPlex “roadies” will sweep through New England and wind their way down the East Coast and across the nation in the coming months.

Fiber optic communications is growing at an average of 5.5% a year due in part to the burgeoning growth of IoT (Internet of Things) applications requiring broadband connectivity. Analysts predict global spending for IoT will reach $1.7 trillion by 2020, almost 32 percent of which could account for IoT systems used in the enterprise to measure flow rates, temperature, and other data related to SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and other process systems. In addition to the standard A/V, security, network and SATCOM applications, fiber optic communications is used in the transport infrastructure for connecting sensors to terminals and centralized SCADA and IoT systems.

FiberPlex Technologies is positioned at the nexus of fiber communications and IoT in the enterprise as a U.S. manufacturer of fiber optic multiplexers, converters and other fiber optic products.

FiberPlex’s demo truck is open to anyone interested in existing and emergent fiber communications. Mark this page to follow along during our travels across the nation.
